oh dear its not suposed to look like that what product is it ,also what kind of surface have you gone over

Bog standard blockwork, which there is nothing wrong with and a new product on the market......Larsen Professional OC-100.

contact your rep mate that shouldnt be happening on new block work , i presume you put on the correct depth etc and it wasnt bad /cold weather

It wasn't windy and just your normal block......not liteweight. It was pretty much your ideal spray application temperatures. Thats why I'm a bit lost....

What's the plan mate and who was the manufacturer, you don't want this happening through the rest of the job

Thats why I'm here...was hoping for some guidance. Don't know where to turn to next. The manufacturer says there is nothing wrong with the product, which i believe to be untrue and the client says there is nothing wrong with the blockwork .......who do i turn to now to resolve this?

This all over the gable wall of the house, near beads and not near beads.....it was machine applied to 18mm and scratched back to leave a finishing coat of 16mm, so depth of render is correct.

I would understand that if it was applied in warm weather that this may happen....if you hadn't wet the wall or protected from warm temperatures, but this was only applied in the last week where the temperature was no more than 15 degrees and didn't fall no less than 9 degrees....

you can go over it all with a self coloured thincoat render, prob cost you about £7m2 to buy, or u could try a mineral topcoat from sas or somewere more like £ 2.00m2 to buy but it may need painting to equalise it. Those are the options to finish it if you dont wanna leave it like that.

A couple of years back I was doing a site where the renders were on Fenn Lite blocks which were lovely to work on but part way through they changed the blocks without telling me, the new blocks looked almost exactly the same but the suction was unbelievable. You could only see the difference when you held the two side by side. Perhaps you've encountered some of those buggers.

pretty bad on the reps point of view.... if its a new product its not the way to go as now anybody who mentions it they are going to remember this post...

Good luck

Danny

What strength was the block? Weber would want the block to be a minimum 7.5 newton concrete block. Any less and they would their rend-aid applying. Could it be too soft a block (3.5newton) ? Good of you to mention the company name. Need to avoid those in the future. Sounds worse than Weber and they are pig ignorant.

Ask the builder what the block strength was. Who specified the product, you, the builder or the architect? If was you then it is between you and the manufacturer. If it was the builder or architect then ring the manufacturer up and ask about the minimum block strength first and if it is like Weber, it needs a minimum 7.5 newton block then ask the builder what block he laid. If he has laid 3.5 (most likely) then it is down to them for not doing their research.

Good luck on this one and keep us posted.

Had a couple of guys come to a job I've got on at the mo. peddling Larsen renders saying their looking to supply to the uk. Seemed a bit vague to me the whole thing. That render looks like it tops Eco rend as being the worst render on the market. If its mono it's parex monorex and nothing else for me. Good luck on resolving this butt

I didnt know that Webber specified that, most 2 story dwellings are built with 3.5 and if clinker i.e.Aglite etc. i wouldnt have thought it would have not made that much differance maybe slightly more suction with the 3.5 against 7.5 but there would be a differance with thermalite or celcon but then i would rendaid them.
