New Alfra Eibenstock mixer.

My new mixer has turned up today. Looks like a good bit of kit.
Thing is, I can't get it in gear! I'm probably being thick. The manual says to push the speed selector in and slide to required speed. But the switch barely moves and the gear doesn't engage. There is a screw in the middle of the switch. Does this need removing? Just don't want to bust the thing before I've even used it.

Get the paddle on and try twisting the shaft slightly to move the gears and the switch should slot in then.

sounds like its between gears.. gently twist the paddle round and it should slot in

its when the gear is stiff and it spins the bucket and rips your legs open :-\
