New plasterboard meeting old ceiling

Hello All,

This is my first post, so go easy. Long story but the other half decided to take the plasterboard off of one wall to expose the brickwork. I need to replace this but I was wondering what to do with the joint at the top. The ceiling is artex (with asbetoes, we had them tested) so how do I fit the joint tape. Can I install the joint tape over the top (the ceilings will be skimmed later) or should I scrape back an inch or so to reveal the ceiling plasterboard?

just scrape the artex flat a couple of inches from the edge so that you can fit the scrim.

its not even the dangerous stuff in artex from my understanding
