Hi , i typed in plasterers forum, expecting "ukspreads" which i saw before, this is far superior!!

Ok im sweating, i was a mere labourer/trowelhand in Oz for near 4 years, ie 4 plasterers, boss, apprentice, 2 trowelhands and me..the man with two mixers and to keep em supplied!! float set etc! From there i went to a specialist texture company(scratchcoat finishes etc, where finally after 2 years i got "on" tools) from new builds to factorys to recoats to old housing. Im now back home 16 months, not touched tools in that time and in a few days, i have a trial /start with a plasterer who is well known as being very good and very fast and am freaking out! Uk is so different to Oz regarding vacancies , styles, weather etc..........i dont want to mess this up.
Any advice etc would be more than appreciated, he dosent expect much but im hoping it all comes back to me.
I have been reading this site for 6 hours since i found it, damn well informative.

Cheers,glad to meet you all

Hello,

Welcome to the forum,

So your back in England now? why on earth did you leave OZ? I am off out there next year travelling and I cant wait.

I dont know a great deal about plastering in OZ but I would think the principlea are the same as here. Maybe it would be worth doing a 5 day course just to brush up and then from there you will be able to see what you can and cant do.

Thanks for the compliment..... I used many plastering related forums before and even offered to help a certain company develop a better forum, they were not interested, thought I was small fry...HA!!

Glad TPF has helped you and hope we can help in future

Regards

Danny

Hi Danny, lol not England, Scotland :) You will love Australia as i did and do. I got my Permanent Residency etc , so will be back some time soon. Yes a refresher course would be helpful but its sink or swim on Monday with the new start / trial etc

Regarding Australia, especially the West, you will not be stuck for work. Opening the trade section in the newspaper there is like a newspaper in itself here!! It's still very much float and set inside, never saw a dryline or taper in the 4 years i was there. Outside is usually finished brickwork. The "poms" who took there trade there that i worked with were shocked at the suction, heat etc. Guess i wasnt as i "learnt" there ;D

Any questions you have i will help if i can

Cheers
