New to plastering advice needed

I'm quite new to plastering. I've just noticed recently now my work has dropped off & im leaving white marks on the walls where I've been trowelling up. Not sure whether it's due to pulling to much plaster off when I first trowel it up or due to not giving it enough time to set before & in between trowelling? Any advice appreciated

Those marks are most likely water marks caused by using too much...

Also can be down to playing with it too early

Yer i try not to use to loads of water so must going over it to early I always find it hard to judge when's the right time after the 2 coats get back over it
