Just been reading on here about stainless steel and carbon trowels. this plasters i worked with the other day had a 3 year old rangi carbon trowel. worth like £9! and it had loads of flex in it and he did this reali tight curved corner with it very easy and i fort my M/T Gold that is 3-4 years old wouldn't be able to do that at all!

made me think is it Worth getting a carbon trowel ? do they flex up better in the end?
and what is the best carbon to get?

Yep and carbon wears more evenly than stainless

My first trowel was a carbon mt but it snapped on the rivet after about 5 years as it got really thin, my second trowel which i still have lasted about 12 years which is a stainless mt but i havent used it for a few years now. So i personally use stainless as they last a lot longer.

To be honest I've always found quite the opposite with the carbon steel trowels keeping their shape better, I always use a carbon for my sand & cement work and boy they do get sharp.
