I have a Vauxhall combo it's too small and has really started letting me down just wondering which is best get a used van I could afford up to about £5000 or is it better to get a new one and what is best to get vans do my head in lol

Yer heard good things about the hiace that's van r us looks good be better than throwing the savings at a van again lol

Everyones going to recommend there own van all I can say is I've got a 53 plate I've done 35000 miles on it in a year and a half ish and have had to only change tyres it's done 106000 there small ish but good for around cities for parking if you're going to be carrying board go for a lwb I can fit 7-8 in mine swb then it's pushing against the doors you could get a beauty for 5 grand, have a look on eBay and see what mileage there doing there's loads on there that have done over 200000

I think which van depends on personal needs. we tend to get most of are gear delivered so just have a transit connect with a decent roof rack fits everything we need in. Had biggger transits to but i find bigger van we have more stuff we have in there what we dont use. you will be surprsied how much more gear can fit in a connect to a combo even tho there a similiar size.

buy a old van and spend your cash on a plastering machine that will make u money van cant.

Utter nonsence....A reliable van is one of ...if not the most important investment you will undertake, in building your business. Its relaibility is paramount to the sucess of you as an individual or company.

Your sparkling new machine is no F*****in good to any one, if it's in the back of your van , broken down on the way to your job.

if u look after a old van it will look after u transit 190. hiace i had a new vw and it got a f ucking recall new van me hole

well i have xlwb high roof Iveco 05 model bought second hand for £4,800.00 2 years ago and its the business good on fuel and loads of space for everything you will ever need

ford ranger in blue and chrome may not be the best size wise but looks cool as fook, when its clean and not got plaster dust all down the back anyway:RpS_unsure:

Just try and buy a van with a good service history if possible and a tip from bubbles get a cliff richard calander on show in your van.

Ex RAC transit, not been thrashed, good service history and you can pretend to be a pikey and collect scrap an pallets when the works quiet,
I bought my first RAC tranny a few years ago, it came with FSH and a glove box full of receipts, when I added them up it totaled £7000, :RpS_scared: u gotta make some brass to cover little lot.

new vans every time,be it buy or lease.
3 years hasstle free motoring, if your turning over half decent amounts, youll get a full rightdown against any tax your due to be paying.
i used to run 4 - 8 year old vans and forever having problems, so bit the bullet and bought 2 new transits.
as said its the main tool of your trade.

If business is good then new as owls says. My mate has Connect with 250,000 on the clock and has spent very little on it, he used to do parcel deliveries before anyone asks.

cheers for the advice, had some top advice since joining the forum really helped me out.yer bit of a head scratcher what to do vat being the main problem as i am not vat registerd cheers ian

It all comes down to personel prefrence.Leasing is the most tax efficent way, but you need to have work to pay for it.If your not working ya fooked. If you run a older van as long as its reliable it will still work, you claim your 80% as against 100% if you lease, but you still own the equity in your van.Im against leasing, i leased a new VW T5, the turbo bearing seized, shattered and got sucked through the engine,it spent 6 weeks at VW and i had a brand new to use, not good with out my racking though.
And on both occasions the lease companies tried to spank me for conditions of the vehicle going back.

I got a shitroen xlwb hi top relay now which is good as gold an comfortable as folk. Best vans on the road ? FIAT DUCATOS. No bullshit

Put 60k miles on mine without even an oil change in 9 yrs. never let me down despite London stop stop stop start stop driving :RpS_thumbup:

i had one, only for 3 years but it was the nuts never had a problem that i diddnt create my self, standard tyre changes, diddnt have to do the brakes and i had to replace the rear suspension cos i put 2 much sand and cement in the back and the suspension just exploded in the middle of travis:RpS_blushing: felt a bit of a c**t to be honest.

ive got a new traffic crew van. looks great but far too good for our purposes. good vans but dont take too much abuse

Transits are THE van to have in the plastering game. Get one with a full bulkhead so it keeps the mess out the front.

i had this from new nothing like going out in morning and does not start peice of mind
