Hi there I want to practice using hardwall in my garage, I have read the guide to floating Walls post , but it all seems that it would take to long to even one wall , can some one post another or reply to this. the method of ruling , how to put the screeds on ? Do u just have to check the screed with a level intill the screed is level ? Where abouts do set your screeds vertical or horizontal ? As u can tell don't know any think about floating. my garage will probably end up as a bike store by the time I have finished practiceing lol
Thanks
Nath

have a tip then...
batten one wall out @ 400 ctrs.. board it with 12.5mm plasterboard...
instead of hardwall, use bonding coat...
2 reasons...
1) you can rip the boards off, reboard and do it again as many times as you like, easily...
2) bonding is for low suction backgrounds, it wont pull in so fast on board like hardwall on masonary so youll have loads of time to play with it...

just try lashing a bag on at around 5-6mm to kick off with and get yourself a 4foot and a 6foot rule, feather edge, bit of window board, whatever... and play around trying to get it as flat as possible...

once youve got the knack youll be able to keep up with it on a bit of a higher suction background on a bit thicker when the walls out of plumb etc... but try it on a flattish surface to kick off with just to get the hang of it...

well said m8 id batton out a corner say 2 boards aech wall into the corner
then the ceiling too 2 boards so youv got say (2) 8ft/8ft walls and a 8ft/8ft ceiling so then you can float & set the walls and skim the ceiling like a propper booth
in the comfort of your own home lol get the misiss too get the kettle on inbetween sets.

so setting out lay on your bonding on the walls rule off set the ceiling then set the walls :RpS_thumbup:
B&Q/WICKES sell part damaged bags of muilti finish/bonding/hardwall/browning/board finish and sheets of plaster board on the CHEAP pop over there and fill your boots
bags of plaster about £2
8/4 12.5mm board £1each there abouts in that reigon

and even bags of mono at jewsons too if you wanted too get intoo that too

one of my m8's done this in his shed his set up was 3 walls 2 8/4's each wall with a window liner fixed in one wall he was doing his apprentaship at the time
and the spraed told him too make a set up like this and keep praticing at home

You could set some battons on the wall, fill n with Hardwall and just practice your rulling of to start with.If you have never Hardwalled before its a good method, depending on what thickness of battons you use its sometimes better to build out your thicknes, noy lay it all on in 1 go.

no he was on his placement and the plasterer didnt want him messing up walls its not easy trying too train some one at the same time your working

Thanks making a little booth sounds good ! I still not sure of the method, how would u do it step by step if you was to hardwall, an wall that has door frame / window in it and internal wall. And would u use same method if I was to float a wall that already has existing and half back to brick . And also timing to float rule and skim , thanks lads

I have looked into them, expensive and everyone said there rubbish . The spread I used to work for also said don't bother. I think I just need to watch some one do it or just have a go before thats why I wanna at least kinda know what I am doin before just having ago. Or if anyone in Worcester can give me a days work to labour I will do it free !! So I can see how it's done
