Afternoon All,
I'm new here and looking for advice on what I should be doing (or at least getting someone else to do for me) in my new house. Its an old brick terrace, circa 1890, we have a hole in the wide render near the sofits and roof which is causing damp in the front room.
We are getting that sorted then we need to sort out the internals of the room. its currently plastered but its a scrappy job and a fair bit in one corner is cream crackered because of the damp issues. Im thinking of knocking the whole lot back to the bricks so a proper job can be done.....
So I would like your thoughts on the best way to approach it, here are some thoughts I have had.
1 - knock back to brick, plaster over it. (does it need a base coat?)
2 - knock it back, plasterboard it all, then skim.
2 - Knock it back, acoustic board the joining wall to keep the neighbours noise down and plasterboard the rest then skim it all.
I would appreciate your thoughts on these and suggestions for the best job to be done. APologies if its noob language as i have no idea what im talking about really lol
thanks in advance, Rob
