NVQ assesor

Hi all

When the NVQ bods come out to view you for your osats for the nvq2 how long do they stay with you on the visits. Is it an all day job or a few hours??

it depends, when i had to answer the questions he stayed about 3 hours on a couple of days. but he mainly answered them himself because he knew i was busy. then once the questions were done he'd come, take a couple of pics. have a cuppa with us then f**k off.

Mine watched me board and skim a dining room ceiling with a 8 x 4 boards and a deadman prop, Never once offered to help!! Was there for about 4 hours on that visit, Next visit i was rendering an Extention, watched me lay on and Rule (scratched a week before) Stayed about an hour so never seen job rubbed up. And last visit i was Floating internal walls in S&C, again stayed about an hour.

I agree with monoman ..... mine was a 5 minute visit where we had a cup of tea and a fag ... asked a few questions then pi.ssed off.

the collage i went to when serving my time used to do osat, he used to send the store room lads out to assess people! mostly polish, they'd just sign them all off in a heartbeat so fat boy upstairs in the collage got his pay out off the government. joke!!

I had two guys turn up for my level3 and they stayed for quite sometime as they said they were learning so much, I kid you not.

when my mate was assesed for suspended ceilings, he is 58 and been in the game all his life, the assesor was a plasterer and said he didnt know much about them so would be gratefull if he would teach him a bit and he was going to pass him anyway. Does anyone know of anybody who has failed.

i very much doubt anyone would fail. my assesor told me he was on commision. wether he was telling the truth or joking i dont know, but i wouldnt be suprised. he asked me to go and do a bathroom for him as it would take him a couple of days, i didnt do it.

5 mins. He said he had to dash coz he had 4 poles to sign up the same day. Seriously.

How much does it cost to do this onsat?.........I take it you have to be busy with work for them to come out and test you?

6 months to do 3 site visits I was told. Although funding has just run out now so u will prob have to pay around £1000 to do it. Just trying to blag the system myself as I only plaster every blue moon but id it's free why not
