pricein a big job loads of board on stud..but it looks like its been sat there a while and the scrim is black?
any thing i should do before skimin?
 
You can get black scrim,in fact I found it very good.
If the boards have been sat for a long time or have got damp then I would seal them first before skimming.

Yes thats the cheaper option 4-1 apply with roller then go for it, or if your feeling flush then bonding agent but pva will be fine :)
 
you could put some cream of tartar in your finish to slow the set down never done it myself but it does work
 
i know some spreads and they swear by cream of tartar they reckon it's brilliant stuff, they said 2 or 3 heaped teaspoons per gauge , i've never used it
