Morning all,
Have been plastering for too long (approx 25 yrs), working in the West Midlands/Staffordshire but getting a bit fed up it all now (must be my age). Was wondering if there are any plasterers on here actually making good money these days? I work for a firm but haven't had a pay rise for 5 years & it doesn't look like I'll be getting one for the next 5 years either. Am not moaning as grateful to be working but any ideas how/where good money can be made?

there are quite a few members doing ok but I think they are renderers and wallcreters :D

Alright there Foxy, We have always made good money in the domestic market. It has become far more competitive lately though
 
those making money would not say on here, its a tough game, thankfully I am doing ok but still less than 2008
 
Your fed up after 25 years? I have done over 40 and really really fed up with it!

Welcome aboard anyway. Hopefully we will cheer you up.

Jesus! I don't think I could manage such a long stretch. My body's packing in now. Terrible trigger finger, throw my brew everywhere most mornings
 
Hey Foxy (fighting urge to do a winky face after that greeting lol)

I've been doing ok, ticking over but think that may be having the niche of being a girl..... so maybe a s*x change would do it for you? I've been nee too bad off reccommendations as don't like advertising in papers anymore due to too many pervy phone stalkers out there (and the police really aren't interested in helping) so maybe I could do better but getting over the thought of someone calling me under false pretenses and murdering me at the minute!

Got a girl here in Sheffield running her own business. Vicky of VK Plastering. She has been around for a while now.
 
Thanks for the comments, I'm already amused by the thought of doing it for 40 years but probably will as the pensions will be sh*te. Mind you for all you young pups out there, you'll be strapping the trowel to your hand and still trying to spread a big ceiling at 70.:RpS_thumbsup:

I'm going to be on a huge catamaran in barbados by the time I'm 70, having earnt a fortune plastering for Hollywood, sipping a gin an tonic.....
