hi lads, just did a job for a lady, reskimmed 2 walls,it was a thick plyboard/thin chip board and had some kind of lime plaster or coating on it. i told her the done thing was to tear it down & board n skim but she said she was on a budget. i told her if there were repercussions she'd been warned. i wba & skimmed. it's a realy old house, but the walls were solid. i assume this was the way before p.board started getting used? will it stand the test of time? cheers

I would never plaster over wooden boards or such like, even if youve warned the customer about possible future problems. Its still your name and reputation at stake.

overboard onto the wood with 6mm or 9.5 mm boards and skim it.If its been boarded with wbp board you could mesh bonding and skim but id still board and skim it absolutly no comebacks this way.
