Just replaced one of my mt trowels,
Getting too much out of shape.
Its razor sharp ,,, I used to bin them then I see people selling them on eBay.
Jesus some selling for more than a new one.whit!
When I think of all the ones I binned.
Banging on it eBay.

I really don't see why people want such worn in trowels, to me they become too week and out of shape, nothing wrong with a new one, actually like the feel and finish of one more than one thats years old and razor sharp!

Give it to @Rossi46 ..

Is this your new news you was on about yesterday?
No,,British gypsum contacted me today regarding uni finish.as I said over a year I have used it 4 times...
3 of those occasions we're a 3-4 hr set.
Stuff is of no good to me in that scenario. Gave him my opinion etc,,,,
He has taken note of points I have raised.
He is having a meeting with management. He has my details.
As I said on another thread they are watching posts but are not commenting.
I was contacted by them via this forum.

They can be ideal just to use for your final cross trowel and for blending in patching nice.

They sent me msg yesterday n they called me asking how do I go on with favourite plaster called uni he's going pop over a job show me how to go on lol n bring sum pva ope he brings a pallet load over in date would be good

Used to have a MT 13". Was the balls. Never had one like it. Wrapped it in a towel when finished. Boss stole it. Tramp

The plasterer i started out with had a mt that looked like it had a big toe on one corner pmsl. I tried it once, and said how the feck can you use this?. He used it alright, and called it his money trowel lolz.

I remember learning on this small woden handled trowel of his. It was a dream to use, and razor sharp.

I sold a razor sharp 14 inch mt on eBay last month , it was well worn the tip must of been 2 and half inches wide and no straight edge due to wear sold it on buy it now £60 I couldn't believe it

Yup lots of chancers have bought worn out trowels... but I don't get it as a trowel wears to the user...

I don't see the point of buying the one I'm getting rid when it's bending the way mt goes after good use.but hey.:sorprendido3:

Just had to start with a new one yesterday, whilst doing my first skim set in 5 week, due to some gimp kicking my 6 yr old mt and off 2nd lift of the scaffold. It's s**t, square corners keeps pulling scrim. To make the gauge worse I had a hire mixer with wrong paddle on. Might check eBay myself.

It's common practice to always have a second trowel that your breaking in.I think we're going to see less and less well worn traditional trowels as superflexes are a quick fix.

I keep one old trowel as an emergency, and have another for sand cement and another for skimming. I've just started using my floating trowel for skimming as my skimmer is badly out of shape now. I'll buy a new one for s&c and one day it'll be a skimmer too. Works for me

a back up trowel is always an idea... I think I had my 13 that was my broken in and then a 14 and a 16 :D

Now I have trowels coming out of my ears... all brand new.... 4m2 a month just does not seem to break them in

I know, how many people have a corner of the garden with old trowels hiding in them.

Probably buy the worn ones so when they go on site looks like there've been plastering for years...after doing a weeks course.

I sold a worn 16" on eBay the other month, I'm not shitting you it must have had about 30 watchers and 5/6 bidding over it. It was too worn to skim with, it was only good for a cross trowel. £45 it went for in the end. Still it's only worth what someone wants to pay for it I suppose.

Mega thin blade,, u think s*p*r*lex is thin at 3 mm.

These are only any good with the midget size for getting round sockets etc no good for skimming as in the largest they do is only 11" in this make and they are made as a worn in blade for venetian so for us its only good for final cross really. The company who make them are Pavan in italy and are very well made as i have 4 or 5 for many years and no failure. Have a look at the Pavan site and i know mike wye can get anything from the catalogue.
