Hi guys.New to the forum so please go easy with me.I'm a DIY plasterer and wanting to render my pond and block built shed. There seems to be a lot of conflicting reports on different coloured renders to use.I like the finish of the k-rend when scratched. It's expensive though and can it be done with one coat?Would I need a scratch first or just some kind of solution to aid suction?Or just wack it straight onto the wall?Hope there ain't too many questions and someone can give me some advice.
Cheers.

each to their own on mono renders mate , i use weber and find it ok , you rightly say it is expensive ,so would it be better to get someone in that knows the product and how to apply it .imo

Going of general opinions on the forum and from people I speak to I would say the order of quality/preference is:

1: Parex (yes it has just edged the market for quality and preference for a few yrs now and nothing looks like shifting it for a while yet)
2: Weber (even though people moan about it cracking they still use it again and again also sprays and rules well, hence 2nd place)
3: Marmorit/Granicem (not as widely used as Krend but no complaints with these only good things said every time, great products)
4: Krend (should be higher based on brand awareness and sales but seems to draw so many complaints by users/ noticeably different blend to the others)

These are based on observtions and not my own order of preference. I use all of the above etc etc.

Or does k rend get so much bad press because it so well known and when it come to mono everyone seems to refer to mono as k rend, are these bad experiences only the tip of the iceberg compared to lesser known brands??

I don't know just a thought??

What about sto John I'm guessing they have a mono product? Haven't they been around the longest?

Sto have. Not enough ppl allowed to use it for them to get in the charts. Its prob not as good as the others as their main focus is eifs not mono. They prob don't make it themselves either as even Sto buy others in and re bag some product.

Poor krend reviews down to problems with usability slumping and cracking.

There is a difference in gear from UK than gear that is mined abroad.

We don't have issues spraying and luckily our machine just seems to handle anything we throw in it. No after mixers. No water jet nozzles etc

or im after a quote for ''this k render stuff''

Enewallls good gear, thats being omitted from the list.

Only used Parex once but found it nice stuff to use. Weber ok if on rend-aid and loads of mesh, but I personally will never buy it again. If a customer wants it they can buy it and I will be labour only. Then they can take on Weber themselves ignorant lying bunch!

Never used K Rend and not sure now if I want to.

SPS Envirowal Granicem L is nice to use and not a crack to date. Maybe because only 8mm thick on their base coat. Pricy though.

SPS Envirowall make some good products and give good back up. Their bucket coat is the worst I have used though. I like Jub and SAS Europes.

Dont get me wrong, Krend when done right looks aces, but its like Forest Gump.
You never know what your gonna get.

Yeah it is good gear. I was trying to keep the list as close to people opinions as poss and its early days just yet (only done a handfull of jobs with it so a fair review is a coupla jobs away - waiting for a summer to see) not selling the numbers of the big 4 yet. SAS also make a decent one but only rigsby uses it hahaha

I cant believe Marmorit aint used more the mono is very good. If granicem was as cheap as say parex or weber then I would be using that for every job

the bucket coat is pants. but the envirorend base for renderboard is mint - so creamy to use

I used k rend ft ivory first time about 5 years ago hand applied on one of my own buildings to suss it out before using on customers. It looked good but ive noticed a few cracks in it and a rough looking area near top have appeared also it needs power washing to keep the green algae/moss off it.
Not the first render i would recommend to my customers and have seen plenty around that have gone black, dirty or green mouldy looking after a while.
Whats the best way to fill the cracks seamlessly ?
