;D ;D.............ive seen lads do it without a sponge and it's spotless ........im jealous if i could do it i'd be doing it!

you dub youre beads /scrim out and lay a nice thick coat over the wall, let it pick up and sponge it using a medium sponge float then put a trowel over the wall taking the fat off and putting it onto youre hawk then give it a couple of trowels like normal
time wise by the time youre laying youre second coat on the lad one coating would be troweling after a sponge

im with flaz all the way.....eastern european way of plastering.........surley your reps worth a bit more in sweat aint it?

never had a go with a sponge float on plaster,to anybody who has whats the difference on the end product?

forget the sponge, even on one coat, if you fill out your beads and joints put on a thick enough coat and as flat as possible you can go back straight on it and flatten. i wouldnt recomend one coat to anyone, forget the sponge its for jokers who cant manage to get back on it quick enough or put too much on and rely on rubbin up with a sponge set plaster and playin with the fat (dead plaster) if you do this method it will go pearshaped eventually. Ive seen it done on site 2 coat s**t, one coat s**t but have seen one and two coat spot on. Ive one coated on site if the prices are shite and the rest of the lads are shite and to be honest you couldnt tell the difference and thats on boards. forget one coatin on pva and skim, i wouldnt normaly mention one coat because lads and lasses who have been plasterin 5 mins might try it but too late i said it.lol

as flynneman said forget it.looked at a job wks back, customer had had a ceiling re boarded and skimmed phoned to say that was unhappy with job,it had been done five days an he was concerned that it appeared to be not setting an powdery.when we saw it it was the worst example of skimming ever seen the ceiling was basically a mass of fat just like the fat in the bottom of the waste bucket, all the hollows down to the board were filled with it.but some people that dont no any better get a bit confused with the term bringing the fats to the surface.an then start using what ecentially is a buy product of finish to second coat with. no way.quality every time, best way for bad rep.

thats out the question then lads i cant one coat scim with a steel trowel, mine always looks sh!t

Wouldn't try it seems a bit of a corner cutter ive never had a problem 1st coating then laying in so thats how ill continue :)

But there prices are crap :'( They tried to poach me last year to finish a site i was getting £16 a metre and they was offering £12 :o

Was working for a firm from brighton called DB Construction but he has just retired and stanmores have taken his sites over and we have chatted before grand ;)
