Alright fellas

I have got some artex ceilings to skim coming up and I usualy just skim over them. I am only doing the ceilings as the walls are fine. My question is, if I overboarded them I wouldnt be able to scrim the edges so therefore they would crack wouldnt they? Its been a long day and if this is a stupid question then forgive me, I cant think straight!!!

Re: overboard  ceiling

U Could try scriming half the board and wall...and after skimming cut bk scrim with a knife..?..dunt reali no..just do wot u can..just make sure there is scrim around the edge at least ans maybe deko cork the edges after.. :o

Re: overboard  ceiling

you're right you can't tape the corners but why are you overboarding?
If it cracks later caulk it.

Re: overboard  ceiling

I never normaly overboard artex so was gonna give it a go and see if it is a better way of doing it. As it is only the ceilings I am doing I had a feeling last night that it wouldnt be possible to do without scrimming the edges as it would crack. I dont think decorators caulk would last long enough before cracking again, plus its an extra job to do. I think the only way would be to cove it and the customer hasnt asked for that. I think I will just do it as I normaly do.

Cheers for your input though fellas.

Re: overboard  ceiling

under board loads of cielings always scrim the edges so they butt up to the walls then nip back a couple of days layter and run some decent qaulity cork around never had any probs with cracking
