Painted Ceiling

Quoting for a job at the moment and the customer had ceiling tiles, they have had the removed and underneath is quite a good ceiling however it was painted before the tiles were stuck up and where they have taking them down its pulled the paint off.

My queston is will it be ok too skim over the the whole ceiling or does it need taking down and re-boarding?

give the loose paint a scrape. pva it or wba it. if it doesn't start bubbling then skim it if it does then either scrape all the paint back or yeh just re board it

Wouldn't bother ripping it down. Make some holes to locate joists. Mark up each one on side of wall. When reboarding be aware of where holes aren if you screw into these they will pull board in and make hollows. So either screw next to holes or repack with board off cuts
