decorator on job today was painting newly skimmed ceilings, he said fuk watering paint down straight over undiluted, and it looked mint, he gave them 2 coats of Leyland trade matt.. and they looked nice, always thought you diluted 1st coat, not that I paint owt anyway, but good to know...

Just p1ss down your 1st coat then give it another coat undiluted of the same stuff

when I say p1ss down I mean just read back of tubs usually 10-20% water.

My decorator friend says 50:50 first coat and a neat one on top :RpS_thumbup:

and I believe him .............. he's my friend :-)

He is cowboy as my mate who is professional decorator - he always mist coat.

Didnt realise you knew him personally mate, hes a 60 year old apprentice trained painter and decorator, worked all over the world.. so maybe he knows a tad more than your mate ?? anyway not realyy that bothered , just thought id share.... it looked mint..

Minimum dilution 80 per cent paint 20 water, otherwise the paint sits on the plaster and does not soak in, therefore the second and third coat will also sit on the plaster, it can last a long time but its not the way to do it, another dumb ass decorator.. Thick as shiit and probably cheap as chips

I have had whole flats where all the paint had to be scraped off ,every single bit walls and ceilings due to stupid painters, sorry but its that simple

Seen painters Do this before with Leyland trade they said it's watery shite so
Doesn't matter its when you see painters doing it with dulux and more
Expensive brands thats wrong .

no good decorator would ever do this,, i bet when it peels off later he will try and blame the plaster being to smooth, cover yourself now and mention it to builder/client,

I could not care a **** about how a painter paints a wall or ceiling, what I do know is painting must be the most boring trade ever.

Well I'm actually a baker and only come on here because I hear the whole world takes the piss out of plasterers

Well i'm painter as well as plasterer and I loved painting too as used to be sign writer before those plastic stickers takes over. Then learned plastering as additional trade

Plastic stickers are taking over the world...................................:-0

we can all hide in the @beddy bunker...................:RpS_biggrin:
