Anybody sprayed the sand smooth dpr. Used the 1mm sand fine by hand but quite fancy the look of the smooth sample I got. The maite backing is pretty tight these days. Also is there any sandable type filler for the odd bit here and there?

im using smooth at moment 0.5mm and i agree it applied correctly it can look the muts nuts., im used to using fine ie the 1mm , so its not really an issue using it. i suppose its what ever your use to. do you normally use coarse?
i always use a primer with it aswell as specified.

Cheers owls, yes always a primer. Always use fine these days. Had a colour sample in smooth and tbh it looks better. Are you spraying it? What kit, comp, tip size etc?

youll no doubt be aware of how un forgiving the base coat is with finer grades then, ie sponging it within an inch of its life.
but nope hand application, to be honest there all columns to be done, so theres umpteen amount of linear metres, with the odd small panel, which doesnt justify spraying, and theres power coated alu windows below and surrounding which cost more than my house.... its a grand design type house.

Sounds nice, worked on a grand design type house myself with loads of black alu windows/timber slats etc. a right arse to mask even for hand let alone spray. They say in the catalogue that the smooth isn't suitable for hand application.....is it ok then? Does it pull around a lot? I find a regular wet clean of the plastic trowel works best with fine to cut down on the drag and skids around more flattening not dragging.

we do a lot like that type of house's for a developer that builds one offs, ranging in value from 1 to sort of 3 million mark , usually around 3 plots a year, and every job is different, hence why i use the full spectrum of parex gear [as its my prefered render if im specing my self.]
im aware they say that in there literature, but if you get it on tight enough ive never had an issue, saying that ive never done any big panels with it. thats how i do it with the float just give it the odd going over with a damp sponge to reduce drag.

Noidaintaloadabollix lol. It's the splitting up of the layers that gives you the flattest finish poss. Fining down but as flat as the best mono. Spraying 0.5mm you can load out until your happy that its good. It still gives relief more than paint. I'm spraying it soon. Another thing is it goes twice as far as the 1mm and 3 times as far as the 1.8mm. I'm gonna pursue it as its what most people want my way. They don't want textured unless its deliberate like roughcast.

indeed,
i find sand fine to be a punters favourite.

Is it me or does monocoucouche feel a bit tacky?

Not half as tacky as yellow dash. It's spreading round Swansea like a disease! If your wanting your council house to resemble a big blob of babyshit then great. the icing on the cake is then to add yellow quoins to EVERY opening far that proper classy look. You don't see mono anymore on private jobs, only new builds on site. Smooth sand & cement painted is back. It doesn't get dirty like mono but man is it shite when the sun hits it. That's why the dpr sand smooth sprayed on a flat backing has good potential. Mono does look mint though on the right house but needs the clear sealer which bumps the price up, but its reputation is shot really by so much of it stinking for people to see 5 yrs after it was put on.

Theres a site up the road that has one half painted sand/cement and one half mono and there both as dirty as each other. I am noticing that Parex monorex stays cleaner , has that got some sort of anti fungal thing in it to prevent it growing. And what that red stuff you see covering walls

Its bollix

When we use fine they always say oh it looked textured on the sample and i say its textured on yohr walls too..... they just dont get it. Fine is lost on big areas if they like texture and have big walls you need coarse f or it to show otherwise float and paint with nanosil
