Hi can any one help. been applying parex maite monocompoant over insulation by trowel. mesh and first coat has gone ok I think mixed second coat a bit wetter to trowel easier which was better. but how long should left before re trowling or is there any techniques that may help as seems to pull abit when retroweled and left some high spots also any tips for putting on acrlic

Do a search on here...also I've given maite finishing processes on here. In short it's more like skimming as in you look after it as it dries. A swiss trowel and spat are essential leave the marshaltown for reveals

Ok thanks goody I found it worked well to lay it on and go over it all with spat then leave it till dry and then take any high spots off

Aye you got it butt. It helps if your in next morn for a dry trowel to push any fine lines out again too. I got two coats looking pretty mint but gonna be using 0.5mm topcoat sprayed on it so time will tell whether its mint enough. Good luck

i prefer to second coat it in the afternoon after a few hours rather than next day. "each to their own"

dhu I hate catchphrases

I dont think he said he put 2nd coat on next day, just said he would dry towel next day to fine tune the surface.

Went over it next day after takeing off high spots with a wetter mix kept tight and it worked well like skimming. putting acrylic on this week so will see how it goes

I never second coat same day. I find the first better to coat when set as there's too much pressure on the tight second coat. This time of year especially I run a scratch pad over the sponged and set first coat first thing next day. Then coat up with a pissy mix and it goes forever like skimming. Any thicker than say 1mm and not tight as hell and it doesn't work for me. Like you say tho each to their own butt
