the way i do it is
1 scratch coat
2 second coat ruled flat and level and scratched with waterproofer
3 thinnet coat with lime and then dash
this was the way i was taught do u think its a bit O T T because i saw a couple of young lads doing it with two coats all in 1 day.AND THAY WERE USING ANGEL BEADS LOL

God, i spent years doing pebble dashing when i was 16 with this bloke all he does.....And uses his own scaffolding..None of the sporeads can compete with him, cause he uses his own scaffolding... nutter...Would take his top off when it started raining so he had dry clothes to put on..

He is still going now.....Iv'e never seen sparring as good as his....But then that's all he does..

Can't remember what mixes we use to use now.....But i use to love doing it....Keep you bloody fit..

2 coats, nothing wrong with using plastic beads with the protruding edge to strenghthen the corner imo

i dont rule off when dashing no need really an never use beads all wet angles
i know that i was just saying :D
why what sort of answear are you looking for if you can do it
no i just wondered if anyoneelse dong it like this

Scratch coat with maximum recomended waterproofer
Top coat with just plasticiser.builders bucket half full with pebbles and tyzak dashing trowel. sometimes used a small coal shovel with the two edges of the pan hammered flat.

I'm spreading about 1m in front of my mate who's followin me with the dashing. Make a catch board from thin plywood 4'x2' with an upstand of 4"x2" on three sides to catch the falling stones, then washed and reused.
Don't like to see white plastic beads on corners, look too much like council estate refurbs.Use stainless bellcast bead at damp level but elsewhere, wet corners or use wooden laths to finish upto and carry on next day.

Seen more duff pebble dashing jobs over the years than any other render finish. Easy to come unstuck with, say your mate doesn't put enough waterproofer in one of the gauges!

We used to do alot of dashing years ago but it dont seem too popular any more which is good imo as i hate it with avengence hard work and messy as f**k, we did one a few months back and every time i do one i always say the same i am never dashing again.

Think wet dash is the worst for mess gets everywhere but when its done well think its the best finish out there. Mind u would I buy a house that was dashed, not a hope in hell.

What mixes do you use when sparring then?

We use to put dye in the cement to match the couler of the sparr....And mix sand with no-blow!!
