What size dash are you putting on? We do a gun that will do it quite effectively, but you need quite a gutsy compressor. Tested it out on Wednesday and took some footage, I've got the footage ready to get up on youtube but had some problems getting it up yesterday. Will get it on the youtube channel on Monday and post the link up here. The video is spraying spar dash directly onto the wall.

I do a hell of a lot of pebbledash so this would be handy for me but as a complete newbie to any type of machines, what would I need to get if starting from scratch?

Oh and if you fancy giving one out free for a review, I'm your man:RpS_thumbsup:

If we put one out for review you'll be top of the list!

Its a simple set up, just gun, air hose, compressor. Although bear in mind you're going to need a pretty big compressor because it needs a lot of air. If you have any questions about setting up, air flow etc. we can give you all that info. If you're interested then get in touch with me either on here or at work and I'll get someone to give you a call

So I would need gun (£300)
compresser(£2k)
And hose (£10)
??
The video is a bit vague mate, would like to see how it is on large panels, inbetween the two shifts in scaffold? I'm thinking it might cause it to sag and create scaffold lines?
also, how is it with wet dash?

Im thinking this does need a better review than someone spraying a square foot...

yes fair point there mate, a vid of it in use on the job would answer a load of questions. Thanks Leon, I take it the orange comp c330/10 wouldnt be enough blast?

Gun is £300, air hose is £10/5m, £15,10m, £20/15m, and the compressor isn't the monster at the bottom, the two above will do the trick, so £799 for electric and £899 for petrol.

Will work on getting a better quality video done, that was the first day we'd tried it for the application and as I had the footage I thought I'd get it up for this thread.

Sorry dm, could you explain what you mean? Do you mean the stones will slump done the backing coat once they've been sprayed on? I can't imagine the finish being any different to what you'd get with a harling trowel, but we need to test more. The guys in the video bought the compressor and gun after that video and are coming back for four more sets.

I'll try to go and see the guys who bought on site and get some better footage or get one out for review on here soonish.

Not for that gun no. We had an old sample from Spain that we tried out at the same time, which worked quite well too. Didn't put on quite as much, but will be a bit cheaper and require less air - should work no problems with the c330/10. We've order some and I'll post up when we get them in.

If you've got any more questions, let me know and I'll do my best

Yeah I'm guessing that is would slump at the scaffold levels as it will be hard to get the gun level so you will be spraying slightly downwards?? Just guessing. With a harling trowel i know it will be easier as you could throw the chips on with less force. Think you need to get a better video of those guys doing big panels on scaffold.

Leon. How it it with wet dash?

I'll get a clearer video done soon. Haven't tried it with wet dash I'm afraid, but can't see it being a problem. Will try to get some footage of that too.

Should have time later this week to get something sorted so I'll post up again once I've done so.

Cheers.

To avoid the scaffold area slumping you can hold the gun further back to create a wider spray pattern that takes a bit longer , it would be no problem
I think it would be good if you could train up someone to use it like an apprentice to keep your costs down

Thats what i was thinking, get a labourer on it. On site they wont let me have a big gap between the wall and scaffold so i couldnt do that. Ill wait and see the updated video before i jump in but im thinking it might be a non starter. No point in changing a winning formula you see!

Planning on going out to a client site in a couple of weeks to get some better footage. I'll try to get some wet dash through it as well so we can see it performs.

If you're local and would like to come have a demo with the dash gun, feel free to message me and we can arrange something.
