Exterior ? Am guessing .... I normally nail or stick with gear im using etc never been a one to use all that kind of stuff so cant really help :-) lol
 
Nope stick them on with render and smear the excess over the plastic wings. Helps to stop the gear slupping

A lot of folk swear by it in certain situations.

I've used it or the like on a concrete staircase, the skim beads were unmovable.

I squeezed it through the bead, run some scrim down each wing and pushed it into the excess.
 
I have seen it used but it is an expensive option.

I prefer to use thin coat as dabs like lac or maîte for example. I usually though put a full band of gear behind the wing and bed it in solid. Never liked the idea of beads being dry behind the wing.

Fair does if you are bedding 10mm beads on out to 15mm. You can force gear up and into behind.
