Them board lifters are fine mate and cheap but no point on domestics as Beddy says make some props up or use the telescopic ones board mates help as well or just use 6x3s bit more waste but on your own easier.

Ive got telescopic props but when using 8x4s screw a couple of laths into your last board. Let them over hang and rest your board on it

Hi,
I have to board a ceiling using the big boards.....but on my own....been looking at getting a hoist/lift to make my life a million times easier...

I have seen these on ebay for £90 .... anyone know if they are any good or not? All others I have seen are a hell of a lot more expensive :RpS_unsure:

New Professional Mobile 11FT Drywall Lift Hoist Plasterboard Panel Board Lifter on eBay!

Vinnie

We bought one of the cheap ones off of ebay. It was ok for the first job but got rapidly harder to use and on the third job it went bang and dropped the board straight down just missing my son. I'd say that the expensive ones are probably expensive for a reason, they're safe.

Beddy i got sum things made up in a metal shop flat peice of steel 3 holes in then its been bent down and bak up again right along it to sit against the edge of the board then a pei e which catches the board which is arching down ways for ease of sliding the board in :RpS_cool:

we used a red board lift a while back to do a load of cement boards, atleast twice the weight of blue plasterboard, they went up no problem with it. just its a pain setting it up etc but if you've got a run it's all good you can dismantle it/set it up whenever and wherever etc

If you have got the space to get in 8fts then do it with with props, did one yesterday with a tight winding staircase just using 6x3's.dont make life hard for yourself.

If you can price the job to allow for the cost of one of the cheap hoists then get one. If it then lasts two or three jobs you're quids in. Just don't buy a cheapie thinking it'll last long term.

I bought that exact lifter, only as I've been double tacking 15mm fire line and didnt want to struggle but as Essexandy says don't expect it to last a lifetime, I have used it for 6 flats and had to weld some new wheels on it as all the bearings fell out the last lot.
it does make the job much easier though:RpS_biggrin:
