Hi, I've recently purchased a 3 bed terraced house, a friend has removed all the old plaster from the walls and ceilings, its now just a shell. Would you professionals reccomend I have my house plasterboarded or plastered?

teraraced = no insulation, board it with thermaline boards (walls) and soundblocks to the ground flooor ceilings with insulation between joists, and vapour check on 1st floor with loads of insulation in the loft

Ceilings plasterboarded with insulation between the joists (leaving spaces round lights if sunken - good time to plan if sunken lights are wanted and where).

Walls either dot and dab for speed of drying or sand & cement render for a decent job. Browning is also an option. Maybe worth thinking about sockets etc. if you want them placed differently and cables replaced if old. Might as well think about it since you've had the walls stripped back. Also hifi equipment - some folks run speaker wires round for future use, especially if surround sound is used in the lounge/living room. Might as well plan for everything.

Thnkyou for your help, would there be any regulations I have to follow if I decide to sell or rent out.
would plasterboard rather than render meet regulations?

vapour check is a plasterboard with a reflective foil/polythene backing. it goes on the ceiling and if you want (although theres not much point) timber stud walls. and cannot be dabbed onto brickwalls.

Ah ok so are there any regulations I have to follow or do I choose which way I think is best? All your help is much apprechiated

Dont involve building control coz there are regs, once you have removed a certain percentage of plaster from the interior or even exterior you cannot put on like for like coz it probably wont have the same U values, so you will have to go with insulation boards. If its a terraced house i wouldnt recomend dabbing normal boards coz cold spots will show up, where everyone of your dabs are, go with sand and cement on the walls then skim.
