love these new job adverts for plasterers, PLASTERERS WANTED, MUST BE ABLE TO BRICKLAY DO JOINERY AND PLUMBING...whats all that about, is there plasterers out there that can do all these trades, i have noticed this in a lot of job adverts lately, where i come from you served your time at one trade,i can not see many plasterers being time served in all these trades...enlighten me....

There are many people who are multi skilled and many plasterers have added basic plumbing, bricklaying, painting etc etc to their skill set simply to be able to compete for in the jobs market.

nice one. i think if i was going to add any more skills maybe an I.T. coarse or something like that might help better.:RpS_thumbsup:

It was the norm years ago for plasterers to do a free trades in Ireland, it was so tough to keep busy at the one trade, tiling (ceramics) and lead work on roofs was the norm for plasterers.

as bob dylan says the times they are a changing, at one time a joiner cut wood, aplumber fixed pipes and so on and so on, but so many vans about now doing everything, and i kid you not a small village called kirkby stephen approx 40 miles from carlisle one joiner has everything on his van, all trades mentioned plus funeral service,

is that for when someone dies as a result of his poor building services lol

Plastering/plumbing /carpentry/electrics/decorating/Tiling / loft specialist/extension specialist/underpinning specialist/Kitchen fitting specialist/bathroom fitting specialist /build and design specialist so on so forth all after a one week course and an ad in gumtree for tiler wanted/roofer wanted etc. I have been on jobs and everyone came off gumtree, then when you read the firms website about the training of staff etc mmmm

A lot of funeral directors were run by building companies around this way in the past. Chippies making coffins in there slack periods. I can even remember my old man telling me about a firm he did some work for were one day all the site labs didn't come in, the reason was they were being pall bearers for the day.

very true andy, there is still a lot of firms in cumbria but very few in carlisle who still do funerals alongside there joinery/building buisness, most of these are in small villages/towns outside carlisle, and many have been going for 100 years plus

i think casper subs off of one of there building/ funeral directors, he can do there plasterwork and provide plenty of bodies too:-0
