Are there any annual awards on TPL? I can’t seem to findany. Might be a good idea. Perhaps an end of year dinner or something where thefinalists could bring their wife or partner. Loads of photos of everyone havinga good time..
It could be sponsred by BG, Knauf, Speedskim, the rubberwhisk thing etc. to minimise costs. You could have an innovative product of theyear award, plaster product of the year award etc. to get them to bite. Withsomeone famous to host it, like Nick Knowles or that woman who gets everythingfor free on Cowboy Builders.
You could numerous different categories and each membr ofthe forum could vote on each, with maybe only the two finalists in eachcategory attending the dinner to keep down costs. I was thinking somethingalong the lines of:

Best Plasterer (Top Award)
Best Renderer (Top Award)
Best Newcomer
Best Woman Plasterer
Best Project
Best International Plasterer (Open to Plasterers who havemade the UK their home: Polish, Irish, Australian etc. but no Yanks)
Best Small to Medium Sized Business
And then at the end, there could be a separate tongue incheek section:
Maybe a Lifetime Achievement award for somebody who’s beenin the game along time but was never going to win..
Best Labourer
Best Chancer
Best Worst Advice of the Year
Etc.

The winners could get an all expenses paid holiday for twosomewhere, and the winners of the other categories could get some free tools orwhatever thrown in by the sponsors…Something along those lines, anyway. I’msure there’s some finer details that would need ironing out. I'm not trying to teach you to suck eggs, Danny. It doesn’t have tobe the Oscars or anything; it could be in a Chinese or I****n somewhere. Or ifit didn’t stretch to that, then maybe just Forum based…?

 
Dom1no has won all those awards.............................in his head at least

To Be honest at the moment that would be a struggle. Its hard enough to get the mods together :-)

Maybe in the future it will work but at present its not something I could do :-)

No problem. These PR people have no idea. It would be free publicity and kudos in exchange for a few plazzies, speedskims, mixers, etc. Maybe BG don't want to hear about Unifinish...:RpS_lol:
 
Alot of work for danny for not much in return possibly make people more aware of the website but really if any one searches for plastering questions etc so he wouldnt really gain much ..... For a **** load of work and hastle !
 
There are already awards in the industry :-)

I was meant to have entered a few this year but missed deadlines due to health and generally being very busy... lots and lots of work to get an event like that to work.

I run competitions on here quite often :-) But the thing that gets expensive for me is the postage costs :-) However I am getting some stickers made up :-)

A lot of us got mugs, we are so proud...Danny should at least go,and spend time with each and every spread.rate them,photograph and fingerprint them.buy breakfast etc
 
I do try and drop in on people if they are on interesting projects :-) I was only saying to @Runswithscissors today that I plan on being on the road a lot more next year :-)

Think the app thing was inspired by the birth of the G** section???? Danny brings out an app and all the gays...and closet gays are all over it like a tramp on a bag of chips.........."oooh I'm using the forum app sent from my fancy phone"!!!!!!' Feckin puffs.:rolleyes)
