Im starting a job tomorrow which involves re floating and skimming 2 walls 1 metre high after damp proof treatment has been carried out. I was reading somewere that it is advisable to keep the plaster 2 inches above a solid floor. Whats the score on this. Anybody

yep dont go down to the floor the skirts will cover it you dont want to bridge the plaster witht the floor especially a solid floor.

better still, and even easier and quicker, just render it, and when your ready to float it, run the edge of your trowel 2-3" above the floor right across and cut it out... save you messin around...
but yea, ffs dont render to the floor cos you'll a) invalidate the guarantee b) cause the damp to bridge and c) look like a c'nt.. ;D

Thanks flynny , is it best to put timber along the bottom to act as a stop for the floating?

na your makin more work like chris said go to the bottom and cut it off after youve rubbed up.

Cheers Chris , I think il use that method , I done a few of these about 15 years ago and took right to the deck each and every 1 :-[ :-[ :-[
