so today i skimmed out a single bedroom walls only, lovely easy job nice earner etc.... when i went to price 3-4 weeks ago there was paper still on the wall. i usually mention about what might be on the walls under the paper may alter the price. i didnt this time as it was already a nice little earner. typical, i turn up and there is flaking paint on the walls, so i scrap back all loose paint then put my 1st coat of unibond on walls. 3/4 of the way round the room the worst happens, all the paint blisters. no choice but to scrap off all the remaining paint (3hrs later) i start skimming. nice easy day i thought!!! is there anything that you guys know of that can go over the paint before skimming that will hold it to the wall, thus saving 3hrs in 75 degree heat scrapping poxy paint off the wall. i have used bond it before but still had to scrape. any ideas would be greatly received. Ta Jim

Some say, stabiliser solves this, but I am not convinced, it's just one of those problems that we face, if it blows further on down the road, when it's painted, carpeted exits much more problematic to fix..

i hear that!! ignored it on a job when i first started, never ignored it since.. learning the hard way is often the best way.

That happens on 8 out of 10 jobs and it's part of plastering? Handy tip: always have your scraper blade like a razor and it'll do the work for you.
When pricing work always remember "the devil is in the detail".

Never price a job until it's stripped aswell.

It's like when they ask me to quote to plaster a bathroom ready for the new bathroom suite & tiles & I turn up to quote & it's still fully tiled with all the old bathroom suite still installed lol.
