Plastering over what was external render?

Hello All

Been lurking for a while, first post. Be gently.

Been asked plaster the back wall of a conservatory which has a painted thin stipple coat render on it. Was going to WBA, hardwall then skim. But is there any reason you shouldn't or can't plaster over what is exterior render? Might be a stupid question but not been asked to do this before.

Wouldn't use hard wall, just use bonding if it's painted.

Scrape the loose bond it skim it

Depending on how thick you need to go and the stipple after a scrape u might get away with magic mix

What's your thoughts on dabbing onto existing non painted roughcast?

Thanks for the replies so far. I can't dot n dab as there is a window in the wall and I will lose to much of the window sill.

Wire brush an scrape loose off then pre grit, carlite bonding and skim

Two three hanfulls to a normal multi mix add or subtract as it feels right for you and the job and good luck!

Wet it down sand and cement then skim.
