Can anyone suggest a supplier located in bristol that can deliver good quality Plastering Sand. Thanks Adrian

Travis Perkins Holme sand try and get in and have a quick look if you can the last lot I had was like bideford

Alladin hmm..........."If you can't do the job - get alladin"........like it, welcome along mate:RpS_thumbup:

Try travis in yate or Clifton Failing that Cheltenham do 'plastering' sand by the tonne it's red

I get my sand from travis in bristol and it was alright....deffo not building sand.........that was dumpy bags though, different in the small bags though was like bidiford..........Kellaway do a really nice holme sand i find....We use to go churngolds up filton shovel it in the van yourself....lol

I went to Kellaways and after a speaking to them for a considerable amount of time they have informed me that their holmes sand is not washed. This is not suiltable for external rendering as it will be full of silt and salt.

Yes - they said that is what their customers use. I have now ordered plastering sand from wickes after they confirmed that it had been washed.

I use wollens in glastonbury or bradfords have the same stuff, really good grade. I had about 6 ton of "plastering sand" delivered once that was like half inch to dust so you gotta be a bit wary :)

i find holme sand/sea sand hard work

mix tends to be dead
also tried adding some hydraulic lime with little effect..

took a while but found a good yellow ,plastering sand (from a pit not off a boat in the severn )

take that wherever i go now rather than use the local supplier........

I spoke to one of the lads in the yard at TP today - he said that they have tonnes of washed sand in the yard and that the guys on the counter dont know their ass from their elbow. Wickes sand arrived today, looks good, i will let you know how it spreads.
