Plastering

Hi All,

Had whole house plastered. All new ceiling and external walls have thermal plasterboard and rest of the house bond and skim.

The whole house has been painted white by professional painter decorator. Living room ceiling and the hallway wall i can see like a texture when i put the lights on. I have had led downlights installed in the whole house. The decorator did sand and prep the walls before usiing armstead contract matt on the ceilings and walls and finishing walls with diamond matt.

Its not tiger lines but like some sort of effect i can see when the lights are on and the sun goes down.

Is this normal or should i see flat smooth walls?

In the natural day light the walls look smooth and are flat.

All answers will be appreciated thanks in advance...

All wet works should be judged in natural daylight only.

Any artificial light causing any glancing light angle will make the very best of work look s**t.

Put some photos up

Ok thanks for the reply. I see what you guys are saying its the painters fault. If you look at the whole picture not just the paint affect cant you not see a texture in the plaster? Maybe the pictures not doing justice will have to get at a better angle...

I had this before years ago, done a b and q kitchen and four weeks later get a phone call from b and q saying customer has painted walls and not happy with finish. When I went and looked it turns out the husband had bought expensive paint and just rolled it straight on and it gave it an artex effect as it was so thick. To repair it we went in with electric sanders and sanding poles and spent a day rubbing down then went back next day and repainted it. Was soul destroying.

Trying to get a new decorator. Not sure if a decorators skim will fix it

Given what you said about decorators prep in your first post and apart from the fact that the paints gone on too thick and possibly wrong pile roller used, a lot of that texture is due to dust being left on the surface before painting. You can see it, especially in picture 4, as it causes the paint to 'swell up' and react leaving a really textured finish.

Why did you sand it?

CrispyUK i can see what you are refering too. That is an issue too but look inbetween my two black lines. Can you see that affect? Dont think its the roller or paint?

Customers like this with their halogen light looking for every imperfection in a job make me want to bail.
Its hand applied . There will be odd imperfections...
I can get if it's a bad job,we've seen enough on here but saying it looks fine during day but when the sun turns 243 degrees I can see a slight imperfection
