Got an alfra eibenstok 1800 with negative paddle great for plaster if I swapped over to positive one will it be better for mixing small batches of mono or don't it make much diff cheers

one sucks the gear from the bottom of the drum up and the other sucks from the top down. a positive paddle is better for heavy gear

Rendering
Bulk sand and cement render is still used but mostly for patching and repairs; it is normally mixed in a cement mixer or mortar mixer. Small amounts can be mixed with a mixer drill
Increasingly polymer and through colour renders are being used on new build and also external wall insulation materials (EIFS). These pre-bagged renders are mixed in large volumes and the MM29 and MM30 are recommended

thats no use what so ever lol

Paddle Selection
The most popular type of paddle is the MR3 reverse spiral design. The MR3 shape will generate a top to bottom mix action that hill handle a wide range of bagged and tinned materials and coatings; it is best for materials with some ‘flow’ in the mix
The MR3 screw spiral mixes from bottom to and is often preferred for heavier mixes that need to be ‘worked’ a bit harder
MR3 paddles are supplied as standard with Megamixers

I've got both mate, the negative one is about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe for render. Only use the positive for render mate. If you get one you should notice a difference.

Ha ha, I've been working on a revolutionary new plastering tool that's a cross between a trowel and a hawk. Its nearly finished now, just need to come up with a name for it. . . . Any ideas. . . . .?

We have 2 megamixers, one with a + one with a - , my work mate and me disagree on which is better. I started a thread on here but I'm still none the wiser.

Am i missing something here? Why don't manufacturers put a reverse gear on the mixers and then any paddle could be either positive or negative, your preference. That's right isn't it?

Because if you ran the mixer in reverse with the resistance from the material it would unscrew the paddle from the mixer. They turn against the thread normally.

also that 1800w mixer comes with a positive paddle due to the mixers output ie designed for hevier gear such as ocr an such hence the positive paddle
