anybody else noticed the big sites getting strict on the ppe.
at the moment we have to wear at all times.
gloves
hi-vis
boots
hard hat
safety glasses
i dont mind when your in 1 room but while your skimming decent sized ceilings they can be a f**k*r.
all this because a few people lack common sense.

i dont do any site work thank Fook

I work for developers but not these bigger companies, I couldnt handle that sh it

It's all gone mad. I don't mind the boots or hi vis (I bought some hi vis tee shirts) as long as those *ucking little black bugs aren't about, but hard hats when doing ceilings (I was taught to work within just a couple of inches of the ceiling). Glasses, just wait for the sh*t to hit the fan when someone has an accident and sues because they were made to wear glasses that had steamed up and caused the accident.

got one to start monday skanska glasses at all times did the induction wednesday put glasses on felt like putting on someones glasses kept losing my footing think i need to buy some flat lensed ones

its a right pain in the arse, carrillionn balfor beatie, sheperds, ocon, bam are all glasses and gloves at all times now as well as the standard hat boot an viz

me and my old mate got chucked of a site last summer for moving some of that mesh they put on scaffolding 4" to one side to get a screed pump hose through to where we were working. health and safety? cnuts.

i was standing on a steel with a 15ft drop below skimming a bulkhead an one stupid c**t had a go at me for not having any glasses on didnt say anything about how i was workin its all a joke now

I always ask about wearing stilts just to see their faces drop, knowing there is no chance.

was on a job once them little metal hop ups were banned but stilts were fine ??? ??? and a few jobs ive been on now make you sign a disclaimer if you want to use stilts

Did a job for ISG construction jesus same sh't, hat ,gloves, specs, no shorts Ect Ect. couldnt stand on anything exept podium steps ( double useful on a big ceiling) that had to have the gate closed on it all the time. had to redo my induction because i took my specs off cos they were steamed up, i did a week and was cured. Work for ROK too and thats gloves all the time now too not doin the gogs yet though.

Was on a site the other week and had to get a permit to use steps. Was also told not to be up on them for more than 3 minutes at a time. What the sub contractors need to do is say OK! we'll put up with the health and safety, but the rates have just doubled. I think a lot of the rules would suddenly disappear.

dont reckon all this bollox is the result of the 'where theres blame theres a claim' culture?

I think its more to do with people making jobs for thereselves

usually as a result of an incident happening sheperds banned mobiles on site cos some kid got knocked over an killed by a fork lift while he was on his blower

im on carillion site, got a bollocking yesterday for having my glasses in my pocket, then for taking my hat off and scratching my head.
glasses do steam up for my mate but i dont wear mine.
i been plastering for 6 yrs nearly now and only ever had 1 drop in my eye which did hurt and my mate sorted the ceilling out as i had to stop.
