These boards are very very smooth and shiney. And designed for jointing. Should they be treated with a bonding agent if being skimmed

I'm not on site ATM. I've used them b4 12mnths ago maybe and the skim did nothing but ripple. There was no suction at all and it just pushed about every where with it being so smooth was awful . And thers another job to do now for some reason they ot these boards to joint and now wanna skim. So I've told them they will need treating. But they not buying what I'm saying and just want to skim straight on

You mean the Megadeco boards. Finished white and very smooth. Designed to be jointed with Deco filler and finish which is super smooth. Skimming these boards is a waste of the boards. They may as well have used soundblock or fire line.

They was goin to tape n joint um. There already up they want to skim now for some reason. But I'm sure B.G wnt aprove of them bein skimmed without being treated because of the quality of finish achievable and the extremely low suction like a moisture resistant board?

Grit it all first or bond it etc ? Treat it as like a gloss paint ?
That's bond it, not sayin to use bonding plaster . . . .

Bg won't have anything as its not there product your going over with there finish so there is no guarantee or specification from them. There specs/ guarantees only apply if you use everything BG from start to finish

Contacted the manufacturer it is megadeco thank tony and they have confirmed they are not suitable for skimming at all. Cheers lads

Bg have sent me an advisory stating that such smooth low suction surfaces should be treated with a bonding agent . Cheers

Why not just get the Deco jointing products and joint it? Encon & Sheffield will keep them in stock. The Megadeco boards are as hard as Duraline so will take a knock, unlike standard board.
