Hi Guys, I've been asked to price for rendering a bungalow. Theres 144 square meters of smooth brick to cover so I'm going for a backing coat of Rend aid from Weber and then a top coat their of Pral D.
Ive not used these coloured renders before, can anyone give me a guideline for a square meterage cost.
Any tips also appreciated.

Thanks in advance. Liam.

try and look for for an alternative to weber mate, i'm having a nightmare with them at the minute, stuffs cracking everywhere, and i cant get them to admit theres a problem with the material, seem to be a take your money and run outfit.

I don't think this a new build project Chris , i may be wrong but rendering over any new builds is a problem in itself , let this one run for a bit mate , i understand from your resent posts you have good reason to question this product .

i think with these systems they are now learning the pitfalls i would if possible basecoat and mesh fully any render job i also think the weber mesh not good enough lord and downing sell one with bigger holes in it to let the grain come through it so it is fully embedded as for cost if you are not supplying 20 quid a m2 is about right

Thanks for the responses, I will be hand troweling. The brickwork is Circa 1980. Any thoughts on a unibond coat before the Rend aid.
I'm told that you can apply rend aid with a stipple roller? 2mm thick?
Any thoughts?
Liam.

you can apply with roller and you dont need unibond the rendaid has sbr in it but i would fully mesh it seems like overkill but you wont get cracking this way also put extra mesh stress patches round any openings diagonally on corners

Good Advise Grand ,you will not go far wrong Liam if you listen to the wiz , the guy knows about silcone renders ... but he supports tottenham for some strange reason ;D

Thanks again boys, Would you mesh around corners and window/door reveals or just mesh into corner beads ?
Weber say they have their own mesh product but that it is expensive. Any thoughts on using expanded metal sheets etc..
Also you mentioned £20.00 square meter. Does that price allow for mesh application?
Cheers,
Liam.

lord and downing do a better mesh (don't use metal) don't now how much it is, personally if we don't fully mesh then i cut a 300mm strip all the way around the opening (i say 300 i really mean the width of a scaffold board) if we fully mesh then as grand says just a strip diagonal across the corners, and i put mesh wherever the substrate changes ..like if they put a row of bricks in the blockwork, it's all overkill but better to be safe then sorry

Thanks for the heads up on Lord and Downing mesh. Is their mesh self adhesive? Also will a 2-3mm coat of Rend aid applied with a stucco roller cover the mesh and leave it ready for a top coat?
Thanks, Liam.

Grand has given you top advice all these one coat renders are used in Spain but they dont perform as the makers state personaly i mesh the whole lot but still had problems.
