price for site work

Starting site work for the first time and have been asked for sqm price just wanted them know how you go about pricing for window returns and what is the going rate dot dab and skim northwest thanks
 
I dont bother measuring returns just measure through solid on openings.
As for a price, as high as you can get away with.
d/dab and skim as close to 6 quid a metre as you can get. Otherwise your just robbing yourself.
 
At £6.00m2 on site work id be spending 18hrs a day on site , not driving around, the Dick head

so for dot n dab returns it wouldn't be more? Theres more work involved cutting for window returns and bead
 
I still don't get the reason prices can't be discussed? Could work to your advantage in getting poor rates up could it not? Especially on site work .

Price for what you want to earn from job, what you personally think you should earn for it and if you get it great if not move on, every job is different and to me what James in Sheffield or Walter in Wycombe is getting doesn't matter a sh1t in the end!
It's what you think your worth and willing to get out of bed for..?
 
As diesel power said, my bit now, a plasterer in London who is half as good as a plasterer in Liverpool will still earn twice as much, a plasterer in London's west end will get more than the guys in outer London generally,
 
We dont like discussing rates because it can be misleading to builders or other clients that come on here. Ive had people quote rates to me that they have read on-line. Best way to allow for returns is a solid measure, the rate you charge is up to you.
 
This has got to be the trade with the biggest variations in rate, certainly opened my eyes reading a few posts on here. As said customers will check prices online, I've seen me going into transit forums when my van comes out an mot to check how much I should be paying so I bet loads of customers are on here.
 
Not just that as well when talking day rate.. One spread could spread 40m2 another could spread 60-80m2 so day rates differ a lot which they should

There will never be a universal price as John said it's based on location just like house prices etc
 
I've a job at the minute, a big private where I'm struggling to get the final payment. There making out now I've ripped them off as they have worked out how long it took and guesstimated the material cost and found it's more than what other plasterers are charging for a days work. If it's not been paid by Friday the house is getting smashed to bits

if your on an agreed fixed price barry, how can they defer payment ?

Winkers baz!!

You get a job agree a price get it done quick then they start grumbling over price..

As you say rip it back isn't it classed as your property materials wise?

Threaten selling the dept on that works for us recently, sols writt 28 days after they receive it..

Jurek uses a sol from over the water £2.50 I think for a writt

My uncle and his pal were told on a job, that's it pat, that's your final payment ,take it or leave it, they were heavy duty Londoners,so he let it go,accepted, but then scudded two houses inside with synthaprufe mixed with slurry, all walls,doors,windows,bathrooms,kitchens etc, he said if they had ever caught up with him ,he was dead, different days then,now we leave an electronic trail back to our house all the time..

Its messy, depends on how far each party want to go, depends on your paper work too, I have had the same silly conversations on jobs re half day rates. If you seem to lose out no one minds though

Ask them if it took longer would they have paid you more. A price is price, stand your ground bud, hope you get what your owed :RpS_thumbsup:
 
Ok kinda get what you mean with the regional variations but I was thinking along the lines of I wouldn't charge less than blah blah and thinking it was kinda the same all over the uk? Is this something that effects most trades? Ps I'm only a new boy so a little inquisitive

As oli said ,your not on day rate, your on a price ,if they wanted day rate you may have taken it a bit easier
