Alright folks.. I'm curious to know where you're based and if you prefer day rate or price per job...

Does anyone else find it hard with how things are In the financial climate to secure jobs now?

Seems like 99% of the time even though I know my prices are reasonable for the area most people either go for Mr. Cheap or never reply...

Like how cheap do they think they can get a room skimmed?

You can let me know your rates if you see fit but if not that's totally understandable.

Where are all these rich folk hiding.

It’s definitely getting tighter. I’ve found the same when pricing. Some really taking the piss.
Priced a full house skim for a new builder because his old plasterer was getting very rough. His old plasterer was half my price!!! Builder went back to his old plasterer. Absolute joke, guess quality doesn’t matter when builders are trying to maintain the lifestyles they’ve become accustomed to.

Day works really only there if it’s too hard to price a job
Some people charge 300 and are fast or work a little harder and later
Some charge 200 etc etc
It all comes down to what mrs jones has been quoted and youre reputation I guess
If you’re not getting any jobs drop youre prices when you’re busy put them up

We could both charge 600 for a job you could do it in two could take me three
Rates etc is a load of b*ll***s really for domestics, site work you could get a fairer grasp on what people are earning depending on the area

Based in Salford Manchester, come back into plastering part time with my other job, and finding a lot of the time quoting £150 day rate not getting the job.

I've tried price per job recently and day rate and price per job mostly never gets me a reply even if I know the price is really good.. I've tried day rate and only get accepted when it's below £150 but I make sure I never run over

I'm in Bristol and price all my work between £300-£350 a day. I also project manage jobs and add a markup of 20% to trades before VAT and £50 per job below £250 which can take my daily rate depending on job to between £400 - £500 per day. Average size room reskim around £2200. Bristol is basically London prices now. The other day I quoted to remove existing ceiling (average size room) and soundproof with a system supplied by Noisestop - priced at 5K - she bit my hand off the other quote she had was 20K.

Crazy how regional rates are. You’d have no chance of that up north. Unless it’s the footballers areas.

What I meant was northerners must be mugs plastering for shite money. There’s got to be easier jobs to do to earn the same wage surely?
Like what warehouse work or aldi for peanuts. Driving a van fir amazon all shite work with shite pay . I work on price everyday make my money I need to live on by no later than 2.30 / 3 o'clock
No jobs out there pay anything like the wages we get and the freedom of calling it a draw if you've has enough . As I've said before I live in Salford myself a poor as fuk area with every race known to man . That's just live

Give them a price then daywork is for lunatics. Every domestic jib can be done on price same as site work. I.e bulkheads a decent lineal mtr price same as awkward areas on high level tower work . All price able . If you can't make it pay don't do the job

Builders are all pricks whod get any old bellend in as long as it done . Met a handful of proper ones in 36 years in the game wouldn't piss on the rest imo

Price per job or day rate?

That’s why my conscience is clear and my guilt is free when I take a massive steaming dump in customers toilets,as the majority are tight c**ts anyway and don’t want to pay what you ask for but they do because they don’t want to risk using someone else if I could get free d Bristol rates I’d be having a gold plated toilet and bidet installed in my gaff
