can anyone beat these prices found some old pay slips with prices, good week was £145, bad week £120, on top

my prices from 1982 on social housing in the North East
In those days people where moved out, some times in rows of caravans

the idea was to skim as much as possible over patches,as the patching was a standard price and then you clicked the £0.65 per m, all so skim the biggest easiest straight walls, and just say they needed it,
the full house was coved and believe it or not the coving was a good price at £0.55, if the ceiling lines where straight you could lash it up and nail it with clout nails, and just fill with tile addy.

The float and skim was a terrible price for old work, so when you wanted your next house you would try to claim the one without any walls down to the block work, very little dot/dab done in those
days,

plasterers worked alone so no ceilings joiners did them,
usually worked from 8 am to 3 pm Fridays always dinner time, then boozer

load house up £5.00
Patch house £20 or £30. or £40. depending on 2/3 bed or 4 bed
Beeds £0.10 linear m
Float/Set with browning/skimming £1.10 sq m
Board finish £0.55 sq m
uni bond/skim £0.65 sq m
Board walls £ 0.50 sq m
Gyprock 127mm cove £0.55 sq m
travelling £5.00 per week

I`M from Sunderland, escaped many years ago, worked on a few of the council estates around Pennywell, Hylton. Also a few jobs in crook and Tow Law

what do you do now KK? I tried to escape years back was thinking about buying a taxi, but realised it was either a black eye every weekend on the taxi's or stick to plastering, I took the safest route

not a bad win today we might just pull it off again, what do you think?

Didn't get my first job til 1987, picking cockles a pound a sack, you can never was the smell out of your sack [emoji16]
