Hi guys,
just posted up ad for a small job I want done in a self coloured system. Primarily concrete block but some Rendaboard application too. What's the best product to use that works for both backgrounds? Looking for a smooth finish in white. Have been looking at com rend but confused with the different base coats you can get. Anyone in the Winchester area who can help?

Not many smooth renders self coloured. Flat but with some slight texture like Monocouche or the wet out of a bucket synthetic finishes.

I would not recommend a brittle render such as Monocouche for going over a board. A polymer based render with a bit of flex and a wet - out of a bucket material.

Hi Runes

Most thin coat basecoats and mesh systems can be used on a board and block background.

Make sure you apply a movement joint between the board and blockwork.

As Rigsby said, there are lots of finishes that can then be applied to give a smooth finish, but Mono onto a board is not usually an acceptable finish as they are fairly brittle and will crack through board joints if there is excessive movement.

Another option is to apply a further thin layer of the basecoat and smooth out, then paint. There are also some basecoats that can be coloured by the manufacturer, so the basecoat is through coloured (like SM700 Pro).

Good Luck, if you want any further boarding assistance, or information about Render options, feel free to contact me.
