S a plastering

Private Member
got some fancy cornice to repair with casting plaster its just at the bottom about 2in up but need to take a profile copy is there a tool to copy the shape so i can make the same profile onto something rigid so i can run it in as anyone done this is there any tips cheers

There's a tool looks like a comb, can't remember what it's called someone will no doubt, you press it onto your profile be it skirting or what ever and it mould round the shape after which you can do what you want with it. I'll have a search and see if I can find one online.

Get hold of some clay or plastercine, push it onto the profile of what you need repair then put some casting plaster on the back of it then when thats gone off you can remove the plastercine from the cornice and it will keep its shape.

just take a squeeze of it with some casting plaster then knock up a running mould

whats the procedure for that grand like i said ive not really done much of this stuff but want to give it a go there is more work off this if i can crack this one

If its only the bottom 2 inches you should'nt need to take a squeeze it should be a straight forward repair, my mate used to cut a section out of the cove and use that to run a couple of lengths on a bench. or you might be able to rule it in with the bevelled side of a feather edge. Plenty of ideas but cant really say without seeing it

The proper words for what I discribed is a squeeze. If its only a short piece that needs making up a joint rule will do. TBH I think that you might have a few probs patching a section in but if you have to make sure that you leave a gap of 10mm or so to joint up.
