hi im contacting on behalf of a friend he works for a collage teaching plastering, cos he couldnt cut it on site lol,
they are buying a batch of 20 trowels for students they have decided on marshall town trowels ,there choose is between 14 5 perme shape or 14 3/4 the teachers all have different preference but the chose falls on him there is also a budgit issue but not to important he would appriciate the opinion of you spreads that have used both ,your opinion on which one is easyest to use and leaves best finish and most importantly durability as they can only make this order every 7 years

you've sort of answered your own question, its all down to personal taste. marshalltown and tysack are best quality and will last longest. i use a 14 5 perma shape mashalltown

same as above 11-13.waste of time anything bigger for training purposes.see plenty of people using large trowels 16-18 but actually using less than half the trowel.biggers not nessesary better.well in this instance.

surley your friend whos teaching plastering would know such a fact tho...dont mean to be rude but is this just a little strange or is it just me

at our college we just use stainless ragni trowels, they get hroiwn about and missused all the time, he'll jsut be replacing all the trowels in 6 months time

i reckon this is the best answer..
unless the kids are payin for em.. which they should have to if theyre serious about plastering... whats the point otherwise? they can break em in at school...

I would buy a load of cheap trowels and some good trowels too.
Once a student using a cheap trowel has proved he can look after his tools he will then be allowed to use the better trowel.

11" would be best in the 1st instance and while they are new they will need a tracker fitting to them or they'll be gone before they get ruined, cheaper the better

yep. just the job for college lads scraping the floor with.like letting a learner driver out with sportcar.b&q should have whats needed.
