anyone ever do ceilings where there is nice walls that need to be saved? if so do you mask the walls off or protect them at all. nand Before the jokes come in Yes i know the plaster goes on the ceiling yes i know a good spread dont drop any etc etc... but you can never promise that a fleck from your wet brush or a speck from the trowel will never get on the walls. ALSO what do you use for protection?

yeah the ideal senario but its the same old.... people round ere just want the cheapest so if the artex has to go they still want the walls left tip top because they dont wann pay for decorating... now either everyone is skint or they know trades are strugglin so they try and get what they can for as little as poss

I always put pvc dust sheets on the walls when a job like this comes up. They are only about a quid each. I stick them up with masking tape all round the room.

Customers are always impressed when they see the effort you have gone to and it doesnt take that long to set up

This is the down side to domestic you could try not to drop anything and if you do just wipe it clean as you go, which i know its easier said than done or just sub it out and let some one else take the blame ;)

its brilliant u just use it like masking tape, cut it then pull it and u got it covered. it still gets me how they manage to get such a length tucked into a small bit of masking tape

Also to save time de-masking & taking the sheets down,
tell them you will leave it sheeted up to protect the walls when they have the ceilng painted,
They'll love that & you'll be in the pub quicker ;)

Cheers Naz.

Im surprised at the prices of them.

Ive got a job to do tomorrow where i need to protect the walls and would like to give this stuff a go.

used sumin like that, cheaper stuff for around window frame when we are spraying around the window

was thinking i might try something like this for the bottom of the walls and the speedy mask for windows.
