Hi everyone been plastering two years now and im still not managing to put in on the wall flat , when i put first coat on theres are lines everywhere and hollows and this is the same with the second coat !! any tips for laying it on flatter ?? Its such a big problem cause when i come to trowelling up there are indetations and hollows everywhere and its making it much harder then it should be . My walls end up with streaky bits in them and light bits instead of a nice pink flat finish!! Any help please ??

just practice mate, i do every wall the same, come down from the ceiling all the way across, then up from the floor, i've seen spreads do it in any direction. keep your trowel as flat to the wall as possibly without getting it stuck on. and make sure you keep a consistent amount on your trowel so its even. the first coat i just bang it on but the second i take a bit more time making sure its all even and no hollows. seems obvious but hope it helps!

Yep, agree with the above - do you have a 'system' for laying it on - I always lay a band on across the top (trowels width) leaving it about 2 inches from the ceiling - then come down from the ceiling line across the band I layed on - then come in from the sides and then up from the bottom

Lay it on with 3 strokes of the trowel aswell - dont be faffing around

And let your first coat pull in a bit aswell - dont be scared of it going off too quickly - your second coat will bring it all back to life - Just practice chief, keep at it

If the walls shapeless plenty of dubbing out to straighten float up then apply 2 coats of finish should do the trick m8
