Pva the day b4

Do any of yous ever pva the day before ? I've been told by a couple of people that they have done it plenty of time always fine.? I've never done it believe in doing it but I've got a artex ceiling to do and it looks like gloss I was going to do it with bond it but just want to see if any of yous have done the pva day b4 ?
 
I've done it before a good few times with no issues but on artex i'd be tempted to grit it if ur going there day before anyway
 
I usually micro textured ceilings if its coved but try and insist on overboarding specially if its got a few cracks, i find even with scrim and even fibres in the mix the odd one can come through again.
 
Always try and overboard artex ceilings. You won't need to go the night before then.

I always skim on dry pva...ALWAYS... be it an hr before, day before, or primed 4wks ago....

hate skimming on all this tacky pva mallarky makes yer skim like like treacle...

oh and whilst were at it I only ever give it 1 50/50 coat....never done me any harm in 15yrs....
 
Has anyone ever just added a good dollop of pva to the first mix then spread it on and second coat as usual? In theory it should work but i know its makes it a bit gooey to spread. Shame there isnt a product for this sort of scenario, although they say durafinish can work without grit or pva. :sisi:

As you say zombie just stay with what works for you as long as no failures and your making a profit. I used some today on 4 walls ready for monday but on some of the walls which were painted green it didnt adhere but seperated, so i wiped it off and painted on some micro on them bits.

surley you don't for 1 moment think that unifinish is anything other than just that mate...

il eat my own hat if its not just multi with some dry pva/glue added!!!

Ive never went over dry PVA, theres between times where ive gave certain backgrounds 4 or 5 coats of pva, went over it when its been tacky and its pulled in so fast. I can only think going over it when its dry would be worse?

nope I would say its the other way round I still do 2 good coats of PVA forst one pissy and the next one not so much :D
 
A lot better than blue grit.....

Pva ceiling last night and skimmed it this morning went like a dream got the spat on it then the Nela first time doing it night before but it was superb for coating onto

If anyone's worried about going over dry pva try this give the wall a light mist of water with one of those pump spray bottles, leave it a few mins & the wall will turn tacky, but there's no need to do this as the wet skim you put on will do the same & re emulsify the pva.
