what gauge do you need for glueing and how is the best way to gauge it crrectly as i seem to put it on to weak ???

i dont want to sound rude but if you know your putting it on weak then why not put it on stronger next time? Better still, read the mi's on the tub.

all down to experience im afraid, once youve been at it a good while and made a few cock ups youll be mixing it to suit your methods and speed...
even experienced plasterers get it wrong sometimes, i looked at a room a while back that looked just like matt sandtex, turned out to be like a vinyl matt...
i gave it loads of pva and wondered why it took ages to dry but didnt bother to wipe it off again..
then spent the next best part of 4 hours trying to trowel up multi finish on a comletely sealed surface...
should have known better than to think something with sand in it would be porous but you live and learn eh?
luckily the sand would have keyed up the plaster...

use gypond, you cant go wrong , as for pva then something like unibond pva you would mix the first coat 4 parts water and 1 part pva and then give it a second coat at 3 parts water 1 part pva, where a lot of people go wrong it they will let the pva go off before laying on the plaster, what you want is the pva tacky to the touch then lay the palster on. never had any problems with it doing it this way in over 20 years
