quoining render

i saw a video on here other day with a guy doing this, im going to have a go myself on the garage which is not ready for a few months building it myself wi my dad.
has any1 done this if so could you correct me if im wrong should i -

scratch the first coat on using beads and bellcasts, then do the quoining let it set and then render (2nd coat) the rest up to that.

or

scratch the first coat on without using beads or bellcasts, quoin it then render up to that

Dont use beads sratch first then nail a laft on each side then hold a straight edge and fill out take it up one side at a time , rub up when ready holding straight edge up again then cut with quion cutter. you will have to measure the length for your bellcast to soffit then divide by the height you want your quion usually for garage 12" or 13", then mark your measurement on the laft either side so you know wer to cut. hope this makes sense lad
