Raised Garden Wall Rendering

Hi, I am looking for some advice, the pebbledash render on my garden wall has burst and had damp Staines in other places so the rest of it should come of pretty easily.

This wall was here when I bought the house. The other side is raised soil, it is not an option for me to dig it out.

What can I replace the render with that will allow the wall to breathe and let water from the other side either come through or option 2, block it out and I could drill holes along the bottom. I am not bothered about the pebbledash look, I'm not keen on it anyway.

Finally, how urgent is repairing this? Can I do it myself or is a professional required? (It doesnt need to be perfect)

Thanks for your help!!

Looks like the background has very little key. I would use the k-rend base coat. I’ll only goes on thin so it’s relatively easy. After applying the first coat use a tiling trowel to form ridges then lightly lay on render mesh. Top it the next day and use a sponge float to rub it up. Once dry it’s a good strong finish with a nice light slate colour.
