I need to repair a small area of plaster damaged by a water leak. A salt retardent plaster/render has been specified. Just phoned a couple of merchants and they dont seem to stock anything. Whats the easiest/cheapest way to do this ?

Internally,Thistle Dri coat is what your lookin
For I believe. Sovereign Also do a sulphate resistant gear, ready rend, think It can be used internal and external

Its hard to drop on a merchants stocking thistle drycoat there and then when you need it. I took the last couple of out of date pallets off our local B&Q and they wont stock it again. So for jobs like this if you're stuck its 4 to 1 s + c render basecoat including a waterproofing agent / salt inhibitor. Then when dry skim with multi finish. That should do it. If the patch is deeper than 15mm you will need to two coat render before skimming to avoid it sliding or cracking.
A good cheat to quickly and effectively complete the job the same day is to fix a section of newton membrane across the section. This will stop the passage of dampness and salts from the substrate.. then bond and skim the membrane or if its deep, dab and skim it. Problem solved and a speedier drying out process.
